The world is definitely shrinking, communicating around the globe can be done in seconds and you can travel virtually anywhere effortlessly.
But, that doesn’t mean it’s safe or allowable to do so! There are still some amazing destinations that you are not supposed to visit.
Check these out to decide if you’re brave enough to visit an amazing destination that you are not supposed to visit!
Afghanistan
Terrorism is a serious concern here, as is kidnapping. Foreigners travelling by road outside of the cities are at extreme risk.
But, the Panjshir valley, Wakhan corridor and the Minaret of Jam are all impressive sights and should be seen once in your lifetime…
Burkina Faso
Unsurprisingly a high risk of terrorism makes this a dangerous place to visit. Couple this with the risk of kidnapping and you’d be forgiven for not visiting.
But then you’d never get to see the ruins of Loropéni; the remains of a 1,000-year-old town!
Burundi
Violence is common across this country and assassinations are a regular occurrence. You might not be a target but you could easily be caught in the crossfire.
The ancient music and culture of this country are listed with UNESCO and you have to be there to see and feel it!
Central African Republic
In the country, fighting has been dominant for years and if you’re mistaken for a government official, UN worker or a humanitarian you’ll be at risk of death or kidnapping.
But, the wildlife in this region is spectacular; you’ll witness the black rhino, leopards, buffalo, elephants and cheetahs!
Chad
More terrorism and suicide attacks, but, a visit to the Ennedi Massif will show you some of the most amazing arches and canyons; all sculpted by nature.
Iraq
The country is still extremely unsettled; terrorism and air strikes are still everyday occurrences.
But, if you’re brave enough to visit you’ll see some spectacular temples and remains of great cities, including Samarra and Hatra. They date from a time when the area between Tunisia and Central Asia was controlled by one Empire.
Libya
This continues to be a trouble hotspot but it has some of the best Roman Cities in the world, UNESCO registered and well worth a look.
Mali
There is less risk here but terrorism and random attacks are still common.
Here you’ll find the famous Timbuktu with 3 impressive mosques as a testimony to its heyday.
Niger
Visit here to see Agadez, the gateway to the desert. But be careful; many terrorist and random attacks occur daily.
North Korea
You won’t be surprised to find that tensions are high here and all foreigners are regarded with suspicion by the government.
But, this is a beautiful country with a host of culturally significant monuments and beautiful countryside.
Syria
The military presence here is high as fighting occurs virtually every day. Western visitors are not welcome by many of the warring factions.
However, if you’re brave enough to go to this one of the amazing destinations that you are not supposed to visit you’ll be rewarded with The Crac des Chevaliers Crusader castle and the famous city of Damascus which is several thousand years old.
There are other places which are amazing destinations that you are not supposed to visit. But if you’re curious enough and ready for the risks then you’re efforts will be rewarded.
