Sometimes, you visit somewhere and you find it. That feeling of belonging, that sense of completion – it feels like home in a way that no home ever has.
But then the trip comes to end. And you have to go back to your boring old life.
But it doesn’t change how you feel or what you want. Instead, you’re stuck being homesick for somewhere that isn’t home.
You start hunting for tickets back, always just an easy excuse away from flying back. You spend more and more time just staring at the pictures you took while you were there.
Even if the world you’re used to is wildly different, maybe the language, tone, and culture was enough to inspire an immediate love with it. You can’t replace the cuisine, no matter how exclusive it is or just down from the street.
And you know it’s crazy. That it’s weird. But that doesn’t change how you feel. Sometimes, you get homesick for a place you only saw for a few days.
And the only cure? To go back.
