Did you know that you can check in online with any of the major airlines? This service is designed to save you tie and reduce queuing at the airport. Of course, the fact that the airlines save money on staff and ticket printing is merely a bonus.
The process is very simple. You will need the internet and access to a computer to confirm your booking. A printer is also necessary in order to print your ticket. Read on to discover what you need to do for each of these airlines:
Ryanair
You cannot check in at the airport with this airline; you must do it online. You can use this service at anytime during the 15 days and 4 hours before your plane is due to leave. Print your boarding pass and take it with you to be allowed on the plane.
If you don’t follow these steps you will be fined €70!
British Airways
You can only use this service if your group has nine people or less. The process is simple. Log into the “manage my booking” part of the site and follow the instructions regarding online check-in. This can be done up to 24 hours before you fly.
You will confirm your seat numbers and declare the number of bags you are taking before printing your boarding passes.
Vueling
You can print your boarding card when you buy your flight or you can do it anytime between then and 4 hours before you fly.
It is not obligatory with this airline but is beneficial; especially if you only have a carry-on.
Print your boarding pass and show this with your ID at the departure gate 30 minutes before the plane is scheduled to leave. You can even save the boarding pass on your cell to save printing costs.
Easyjet
Easyjet has the same policy as Ryanair, check-in should be done online then simply arrive at the gate with your ID and printed boarding pass.
Any bags should be dropped off at the Easyjet baggage point on your way to the gate.
Boarding passes can be printed between 30 days and 2 hours before your scheduled departure.
Lufthansa
Online check-in is only available at some airports with Lufthansa. If it is possible then you need to do it between 23 hours and 2 hours before your flight. Printed copies or those saved on your cell phone are valid.
Bags need to be dropped off at a Lufthansa counter and then you can proceed straight to the gate with your ID.
Iberia
Online check-in can be done up to 25 hours before you fly. All you need to do is put your flight details on the online reservation page and inform them whether you have luggage to check or not.
Print or save your boarding passes then show them at the gate with ID when you are ready to go.
Aer Lingus
Check-in up to 32 hours before departure on most flights except US ones which can be done 24 hours before you leave. Simply log your details and print your boarding pass to avoid the queues.
Emirates
You can check in online up to 25 ½ hours before your flight leaves. You can then print your boarding pass.
You must be at the gate one hour before departure unless you are checking bags in which case this is increased to one and a half hours.
Jet2
This offers an impressive timeframe of 28 days before departure, although you cannot do it within 5 hours of your stated departure time.
Your printed boarding pass will allow you to go straight to the gate although bags will still need to be checked at the Jet2 counter.
