In-flight meals have been bad, for so long, that even making fun of it is considered as stale as the food they serve. It’s like death and taxes – some things just never change, and food that you get on flights will never be good.

The companies have announced their intention to create meals that can rival the kind they serve in their high end restaurants. “We want our passengers to say ‘This is great food.’ Not, ‘This is great food for an airline.’ ” said John Harenda, vice president for Union Square. Allison Ausband, senior vice president for in-flight service with Delta shares the sentiment.
