There’s a good reason for this: e-cigs in the cargo hold are a serious fire risk. A Hawaiian Airlines flights recently had to make an emergency landing due to a fire in the cargo hold caused by an errant e-cigarette. If you’re bringing e-cigs or extra lithium batteries with you on your next flight, pack them in your carry-on instead of your checked luggage.
