But, that’s not the case according to the data released by the United Nations World Trade Organization. Not only can you get worldwide cheap flights to the following destinations you may be surprised at how popular they are becoming.
Northern Mariana Islands
These islands are located in the Pacific Ocean and are listed as a commonwealth of the US. In recent years they have become a draw for divers hoping to find treasures from the many ships wrecked here during World War II.
The tourist industry here has increased by an impressive 24.3%.
The Middle East is becoming popular although an increase in violence a few years ago stopped this trend.
However, the risks are decreasing and the tourist industry is booming; there was an increase of 24.6% in visitor numbers in 2017 over 2016. That’s over 3.6 million visitors to the Holy Land.
Nepal has become a very popular destination in recent years; it saw an increase in tourism of 39.7% in 2016 from 2015. This increase is less at just 24.9% in 2017 but that’s still an impressive increase in a high 2016 figure.

This small island in the South Pacific may seem like an unlikely destination as it doesn’t even have beaches. But, it does have an abundance of coral reefs and some of the best water in the world.

This has bounced from being a war-torn no-go area to becoming a very popular and beautiful destination. With over half a million visitors in 2017, the increase is rated at 25.7%.

This is actually the third smallest nation in Europe and is approximately one-third of the size of Washington DC! It is located in the middle of Italy and the medieval walled city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Visitor numbers in 2017 may be just 78 thousand but that’s 31% more than 2016!
Togo is a West African nation which offers similar attractions to neighbouring South Africa, Kenya and even Zimbabwe. A new airport opened in 2016 has made it easier to get worldwide cheap flights here and has helped the tourism industry grow by 46.7% in just one year.
